I forgot you, but you became my thoughts
I looked away from you, but I saw you everywhere
I stopped listening to you, but you’re all I heard
I tried smiling without you, but you were the only reason I ever did
I tried writing without you, but you became my words
I tried pushing you away, but you never left my side
I stole from you, you gave to me
I betrayed you, you trusted me
I hurt you, you protected me
I took the boat, you swam
I ate, you starved
I slept, you stayed up all night
I gave up a long time ago, you died trying
Losing you, I found only myself…
Finding You, I found everything

My Ignorance
If I Write
If I write, may I write of my current state
May I write of my love who has created this wonderful garden of vibrant colors for me to play in
May I write of those walls of fear I’ve created that keep me away from that very reality
May I write of my love calling out to me at each and every moment
If I write, may I write of my provider
May I write of the gifts I received without asking or expecting
May I write of the strength you infused within me when I desprately needed it
May I write of how the value of your blessings cannot be comprehended
If I write, may I write of your embrace
May I write of how I ran out of tears from weeping when I could no longer feel your presence
May I write of the ultimate joy I felt when I could once again
May I write of being overwhelmed by your unconditional love
If I write, may I write of how you speak to me
May I write of how my stubborn ways and ungrateful attitude has taken your advice as insults
May I write of how you never lose yourself even though I have countless times
May I write of how you come closer to me in a time of despair and darkness while the world runs far far away
If I write, may I write of how there is no need to write
You hear me, you see me, you feel me, I hear you, I see you, I feel you…you are me, and I am you
But, if I may write, may I write of our current state…together.
